Al-Ameen College is focused and dedicated to providing all our students with an engaging educational program and inspiring them to learn, grow and achieve to their highest potential. This would not be possible without the dedicated and professional staff we have at this College.
To strengthen the teaching and learning framework of our school by creating sustainable internal structures, our staff are participating in AISWA’s High Impact Practices (HIPs)/ Australia’s national education organization (AERO) research program. The group of participating teachers form a collegiate network that engages together in shared learnings and targeted reflections on the purposeful incorporation of research-driven high impact practices. The AERO research project support staff to achieve excellence and equity in educational outcomes for all children and young people through effective use of evidence.
This term, UWA, in collaboration with ‘The Rural Clinical School of WA’ (RCS), presented Health and Medical Science (HMS) information session at Al- Ameen College. This session provided Year 10- 12 students and their parents with information on the medicine, dentistry, podiatric medicine, and pharmacy courses and entry pathways, UCAT test and application dates. This session helped the students to explore different career opportunities available in the health sector and subjects they need to select to get entry into their desired Uni courses.
Many excursions and incursions have taken place across the College which supports and develops student’s knowledge and experiences in the curriculum, as well as their health and wellbeing. Notably, a career expo at the Perth Conventions Centre was attended by students from Year 9 to 12. This expo provided them with valuable insights into various career paths and helped them explore their interests and aspirations.
In addition, our Year 11 English General students had a wonderful opportunity to partake in a full-day excursion to the Boola Bardip Museum. This immersive experience allowed them to delve into the rich cultural heritage and history exhibited at the museum, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject matter.
Furthermore, our Year 12 ATAR Literature and English students had the privilege of attending a series of English ATAR workshops at Curtin University. These workshops were specifically designed to support and enhance their skills, ultimately aiding them in improving their performance in the upcoming WACE exams.
The energy club of WA program kicked off this term for our Year 10 Physical Sciences elective students where they learn about the impact the oil and gas industry has on society as well as how the industry is moving toward the future of energy.
In addition to these activities, our students have been engaged in a variety of assessments and examinations. Year 10 to 12 students have completed their semester one exams, while Year 12 General students had the Externally Set tasks by SCSA. Our Year 11 and 12 students also undertook Uni-Ready exams.
RecogniSing the importance of supporting our students during these demanding times, we offered after-school tuitions, conducted Year 12 mock exams, and organised literacy and numeracy support sessions.
As the school holidays approach, I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to rest, rejuvenate, and enjoy quality time with family and friends, to return refreshed and excited for all that Semester Two has to offer.

In our pursuit of teaching Islam, we begin by seeking knowledge and supplicating to Allah for His guidance and wisdom. As stated in Surah Taha (20:114), we pray, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge." We are inspired by the words of the Messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam, who said in Sahih Muslim, "Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise."
At Al-Ameen College, we have developed a pedagogy that revolves around the equation: Experience + Reflection = Learning. We firmly believe that by providing immersive and interactive experiences, students can gain a deeper understanding of Islam. To that end, our dedicated Islamic Studies staff recently organized an engaging exhibit titled "Hajj @ Al-Ameen," which aimed to explore the traditions and significance of the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.
On Thursday, June 8th, participants had the opportunity to embark on a virtual journey into the essence of Hajj. The exhibit featured a range of activities and interactive displays, all meticulously designed and led by our passionate students from the Islamic Studies Department. Through their efforts, visitors were able to develop a profound appreciation for this important Islamic event.
Throughout the exhibit, participants engaged in hands-on activities that allowed them to understand and experience the rituals and practices of Hajj. They learned how to wear an Ihram, experienced the symbolic act of throwing Jamarat, and explored the concept of camping in Mina. By actively participating in these activities, visitors gained a deeper understanding of the sacred traditions associated with Hajj.
Imam Yahya Ibrahim, the Assistant Principal of Religious Studies and Head of the Islamic Studies Department, expressed Al-Ameen College's commitment to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation. He stated, "Programs like 'Hajj @ Al-Ameen' promote tolerance and foster a sense of unity among our students and the wider community."
We pray to Allah to protect our staff and students and ask Him to strengthen our children's bodies, enhance their senses, alleviate their ailments, and make them whole. We seek Allah's mercy to safeguard them from illness, sin, mistakes, errors, and misguidance. We implore Allah to bless our children with love and obedience towards their parents, free from rebellion, persistent error, or disrespect.
O Allah, help us raise our children with high morals and firm ethics of righteousness that will benefit both them and society. We entrust our students to Your care, knowing that no trust is lost with You. We trust in You to shield them from the evil that lurks in the darkness of the night and the envy of those with ill intentions during the day. We beseech Allah to protect our children from all sides, above and beneath, right and left, front and back.
Ya Allah, may our children be a source of honor and pride for us and may they bring blessings to our society.

The wellbeing department at our school is dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students. We prioritize student safety above all else and strive to create a supportive environment where students can thrive.
One of the ways we achieve this is by running events like the girls’ and boys’ events. These events are designed to provide students with opportunities to connect with their peers and engage in fun and healthy activities. We believe that these events help to foster a sense of community and belonging among our students.
Girls’ Night theme: Night under the stars
Boys’ Night theme: Game Night
Another important initiative we have implemented is the headspace workshops. These workshops provide students with valuable skills and strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. We believe that these workshops are an important part of our overall approach to mental health and wellbeing.
In addition to these initiatives, we are also involved in a whole school approach to mental health. This includes activities like the Push Up challenge, which is designed to raise awareness about mental health and encourage students to engage in physical activity. We believe that this whole school approach helps to create a culture of support and understanding around mental health issues.
Overall, our wellbeing department is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive.

As the end of term approaches, it is important to reflect on the highlights of the term. One of the most exciting and educational experiences for primary school students are excursions. Excursions provide an opportunity for students outside of the classroom to engage with the world around them. Also, it adds the dimension of applying their knowledge in the real world with a fun day out from the school gates while incursions also have an important role to play.
Excursion Highlights:
Kindergarten had a fun day at the Jungle Gym. This excursion provides numerous benefits for children’s physical, mental, and social development. Climbing, swinging, and jumping can help children develop motor skills, balance coordination and strength. Additionally, it has a positive impact on children’s mental health. Navigating successfully through all the activities can boost the children’s immune system. Social skills are also further enhanced when they share, take turns, and socialize with each other during the activities.
The Perth Mint and Bell Tower were ventured to by our Year 2s. This was a unique opportunity for our year 2s to explore two of the most iconic landmarks. The Perth Mint is Australia’s oldest operating mint, established in 1899. Today it produces a range of precious mental coins and bars. The children witnessed the production process in action in the original melting house. On the other hand, the Bell Tower showcases bells big and small and the students climbed the many stairs to witness these which can be seen in London and the wider British Empire. What an insightful way of having a deeper understanding of The History curriculum and culture!
Year 6 cohort went about experiencing the judicial system and the role of the Supreme Court in interpreting the law. Through this excursion they can now understand the importance of the rule of law in the Civics Education curriculum.
Incursion Highlights
Incursions are also an excellent way for Primary school students to enhance their learning. We had a few incursions such as; First Aid, Constable Care and the ultimate highlight of the Hajj event. These programs were designed to supplement the school’s academic and religious curriculum. Incursions provide students with hands-on learning experiences that are not typically available in a tradition classroom setting. We especially thank the Religious Department for a realistic, fantastic 3D models’ display and experiencing the Hajj in real life activities. It was indeed a winner!

Pre-Primary - Busy, busy and lots of fun
Pre-Primary has had another busy term, but we are always making sure to have lots of fun along the way. In our classroom we want our children to come in and smile, feel safe and know that they belong. To know that as their educators we are there to guide them through their learning adventure to the best of their abilities. We believe every child is different and they all have their own special qualities. Some students excel with their academics, while others are good at sport. Some make excellent speakers while others make great listeners. Some have a good sense of humour and others enjoy laughing. Some students are brilliant with their art and making things while others are great at making friends.
Regardless of their individual and wonderful qualities they are all very special and deserve the best opportunity to succeed.
We feel honoured and proud that we have been given the opportunity to bring out some of these wonderful qualities in each and every one of these beautiful children.
This is just a small part of our journey so far.

Year 1 - Highlights
We are excited to share with you the highlights of Year 1 in Term 2 at our school. This term, our focus was on instilling responsibility, cultivating good work habits, and fostering independence among our students. We encouraged them to take ownership of their belongings throughout the school day and to be responsible for their home readers and homework. It is crucial for our young learners to develop a love for reading, so we emphasized the importance of reading aloud every night and engaging in discussions about the material.
Creating a harmonious environment where children get along and make new friends was another essential aspect of Term 2. We are delighted to see our students developing social skills and building positive relationships with their peers.
Now, let's take a closer look at the learning experiences our Year 1 class has been engaged in:
LITERACY: During our morning literacy blocks, students have been actively participating in PLD phonic programs. They have been focusing on developing strong phonetic skills, practicing high-frequency words, writing spelling words, and engaging in daily writing activities using Talk For Writing strategies.
NUMERACY: In Mathematics, our Number and Algebra unit began with a focus on subtraction, including counting backwards, crossing off subtraction, and solving subtraction problems up to 20. In Measurement and Geometry, students explored the concept of length by comparing objects and using relevant vocabulary. Additionally, they were introduced to meters, measured mass, capacity, and volume. Finally, in Statistics and Probability, the class collected data and created picture graphs.
SCIENCE: Our Science lessons revolved around nurturing students' curiosity through observation, exploration, and questioning. They investigated physical changes to objects and described the resulting changes in material properties.
HISTORY: In History, we delved into the concepts of past and future, creating timelines and exploring oral history.
VISUAL ART: The students have shown great enthusiasm in their art lessons, focusing on Australian Animals and Aboriginal-inspired artwork. They also crafted beautiful pieces for Mother's Day, creating heartfelt gifts for their mothers.
EVENTS: We celebrated EID by inviting students to come dressed in their lovely EID clothes. Additionally, we had a First Aid Incursion, where children gained awareness about emergency situations and how to respond.
We are thrilled to report that Term 2 was both fun and productive. Our students have demonstrated their commitment and improved efforts in the classroom. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the students, parents, and teachers for their continued support and active participation.

Year 4 - Exciting term highlights
As we bid farewell to another eventful term, we would like to take a moment to reflect on some of the incredible experiences and accomplishments our Year 4 students have had over the past few months. From artistic creations to technological advancements, from science experiments to life-saving skills, our students have truly embraced the opportunities presented to them. Let's take a closer look at some of the main events that made this term so memorable!
Mother's Day Art and Craft Gifts:
To celebrate Mother's Day and show our appreciation for all the wonderful mothers in our students' lives, Year 4 students embarked on a creative journey. Armed with their imagination and a wide array of art supplies, our talented young artists crafted beautiful handmade gifts. The students poured their hearts into their creations, making personalised cards, intricate paper flowers, and decorative crafts. The joy and pride on their faces as they presented these heartfelt gifts to their mothers were truly heart-warming.
Introduction to Kodu Game Lab:
In this digital age, it is essential for our students to develop their technological literacy. This term, Year 4 students took their first steps into the exciting world of coding with the introduction of Kodu Game Lab. With the help of this user-friendly platform, our budding programmers built their own interactive games, designing characters, landscapes, and challenges. They showcased their creativity and problem-solving skills, and we were amazed by the impressive games they created. We hope this introduction to coding has sparked a lifelong passion for technology and innovation in our students.
Whole School Incursion - First Aid Training:
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our utmost priority. This term, the entire school participated in a valuable incursion focused on teaching students the fundamentals of first aid. Our Year 4 students acquired crucial life skills, learning how to respond to common injuries and emergencies. They received hands-on training in bandaging techniques, CPR, and the appropriate steps to take during various medical situations. This incursion not only equipped our students with essential knowledge but also instilled confidence and a sense of responsibility in them.
Chemical Sciences - Properties of Materials:
In the realm of Science, our Year 4 students delved into the fascinating world of Chemical Sciences. They explored the properties of different materials, observing and experimenting with substances to better understand their behaviour and characteristics. Through engaging experiments and hands-on activities, they investigated the reactions, states of matter, and changes that occur when different materials interact. This exploration of Chemical Sciences has sparked curiosity and nurtured a scientific mindset among our students.
Fundraising for Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria:
Compassion and empathy are values we strive to instil in our students, and this term, our Year 4 students demonstrated remarkable leadership and empathy by initiating a fundraising campaign for those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Led by our compassionate students, our school community came together to organise various events and activities, such as bake sales. The collective efforts and generosity of our students, families, and staff allowed us to contribute to the relief efforts, demonstrating the power of unity and compassion.
Merit Certificates:
We are incredibly proud of the dedication and achievements of our Year 4 students. To acknowledge their hard work and commitment, we have been recognising their accomplishments through the distribution of merit certificates. These certificates celebrate not only academic achievements but also positive character traits, such as kindness, perseverance, and leadership. The sense of pride and motivation these certificates instil in our students is immeasurable.
As we conclude another successful term, we would like to express our gratitude to our wonderful Year 4 students, their supportive families, and our dedicated teachers. Together, we have created an enriching and inspiring learning environment, fostering growth and nurturing the potential of every child.
We look forward to the adventures that await us in the next term and can't wait to witness the continued growth and achievements of our amazing Year 4 students!

This term we studied Civic and Citizenship Unit with main emphasis on Parliament, Government and Legal system of Australia. I have regularly uploaded home, work, and resources. I expect all students to be on their best behaviour and work hard. Few students were quite reluctant to work hard in term 1, therefore failed to receive good grades. Consequences will follow failure to do so. I expect students to have their books, skill books, resources in class and arrive on time in my class. Devices can be used only If I ask them to bring. I will send a note home if they are not ready for the class and do not complete their class work and homework. They will be rewarded if they do the work to the best of their ability.
My students’ success will depend always on their positive attitude, persistent hard work, enthusiasm and engage with their work.
My main duty is to teach to the best of my ability, support students and parents. Working collaboratively as a team we will be successful here and in the Hereafter. Please do not hesitate to contact me if any need arises. I wish you all the best for this year and beyond. May Allah shower His mercy and blessings upon us all. I am very proud of my students who worked very hard and received good grades. I will be arranging morning tea for 4 students from each class who has received top marks in each of my class. In HASS students have been studying Civics and Citizenship this term and have been focusing on key concepts like freedom, democracy, and the Australian legal system. This is an area of study that directly applies to students and helps them in their pursuit of becoming active and informed citizens.
This term year 7 students have been focusing on constitutions and referendums. This has given them opportunities to make connections to our real world as The Voice referendum is coming up this year. Students were also placed in groups, and they had to create their own constitution for the Western Australia. This has given students the opportunity to work collaboratively.

English News
Term Two has seen the completion of Year 10, 11 and 12 semester one exams. Year 10 OLNA has been run and InshAllah all our students have success.
Year 10 students have been studying documentaries and writing analytic essays on film language, we have studied the documentary The Social Dilemma which raises issues of how social media and devices have come to control us, instead of us controlling it. Year 9 have been engaged with Australian poetry analysis and the creation of their own poems. Some of their great work is attached. Year 8 students have been studying the novel Crow Country and completing comprehension work and presentations in class. Year 7 students have been developing creative short stories and story boards.
With the continual development and increasing use of technology a recurring concern in education spheres has been the emergence of artificial intelligence. These tools are designed to assist, however, they can also be used to find short cuts to completing work and allow for dishonesty. How to mitigate and manage its use, is an ongoing discussion in the wider community. One approach that the English department at Al-Ameen College will take, is ensuring that students not just submit a finished polished assignment but submit all the “process” work that goes with it. For example the plans, sketches and drafts, this way jumping onto a platform and typing in your needs and having a computer generated product created, will no longer be an option where students are rewarded. A recent article from ABC news has been discussing an emerging AI detection tool for scientific papers (please see the link at the end of this article for an interesting read). The article talks about a certain style AI tools have developed which can be recognised. Disappointingly, I have started to find this AI style common in some of my students work, until a fully functional AI detection tool is found, teachers will need to go back to basics to ensure students really can read and write at the level they claim they can. Honesty and Integrity are principles essential for our success.
Wishing you all a safe school holiday!
