Principal Message
Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatahu
Dear Parents, Students and Families,
Ramadan Mubarak to you all!
I pray that my first newsletter finds you in the best of health and Iman in this blessed month.
Alhamdulilah it has been a Mubarak start to my tenure as the new Principal of Al-Ameen College. I have been fortunate enough to meet many of you at the College, the Friday Prayers, Taraweeh Prayers and in the local mosques. I thank you for your warm welcome and your prayers for success.
As a school community we adjusted very well to the COVID-19 delayed start to the school year. We continue to ensure that our College maintains an environment where children are safe, happy, and engaged in their learning and development.
We have had an eventful Term 1 starting with our new name and the use of our new state of the art “Learning Centre”. The Learning Centre has created a wonderful physical learning environment for our high school students. We were honored by a visit from his excellency the Ambassador of Palestine who was very impressed with our staff and students. We also celebrated the wonderful achievements of last year’s top ATAR students who are now studying medicine and engineering.
Term 1 also featured activities such as Harmony Week, which provided students with an opportunity to learn about and celebrate their cultural diversity. Students were able to participate in different incursions and excursions facilitated by the College. We have also commenced trialing various software application programs through Primary & High School across a range of different subjects to further enhance teaching and learning at the College.
As we begin Term 2, we look forward to the partnership with you to support our students through the various in-school and NAPLAN assessments that they will complete.
I look forward to meeting many more of you at our upcoming Iftar on Saturday, 1st May 2021, inshAllah.
Your brother,
Mr Mohamed Elbotaty

From the desk of FST
The year 2021 brings about an exciting change in our FST Department. With Br Zaki’s strong proposal and support, we get to introduce our first Food Specialisation Class for the Year 9s and 10s.
In Food Specialisation, the Year 9s and 10s have understood and value the importance of good nutrition for health and wellbeing, learnt to work as a team to prepare set meals, practised and applied safety and hygiene during food preparation and had fun while doing so.

Online Learning with IXL
The traditional concept of homework learning at a Primary school level, working through several worksheets, can become cumbersome for students after a long school day. Students return home fatigued and unable to concentrate on homework tasks.
With the rise of various online learning platforms, we now have access to a variety of quality educational resources . In parallel with these modern learning methods, Al-Ameen has embarked on a 30 day trial period using IXL to experience homework in a fun interactive way through online learning.
We highlight the following reasons for using the IXL Platform :
IXL caters a customized education experience for various student abilities and levels
Students can access their homework anywhere, anytime being flexible.
Students can set their own pace for their learning.
Diagnostic results and feedback is given after completion of set tasks.
Students receive official certificates after completion of set tasks which builds motivation and enthusiasm to do the homework online.
Congratulations to ALAYNA SIRAPURNA for winning the Student Saftey Poster Challenge!
