A Warm Welcome From Al-Ameen College

Assistant Principal

Alhumdulillah, we have had another ‘activities-packed’ exciting Term. Plenty has happened, some of which are showcased in this newsletter. Our STEM Team, together with the Arabic, Islamic Studies, Science, English and Wellbeing Departments have had amazing achievements and inspirational activities held during Languages Week, Science Week, Book Week and R U OK Day? Congratulations and sincere thanks to all HOLAs, Teachers, Education Assistants, Maintenance, IT and Administration Staff and Management Team for all your hard work, resulting in a very productive Term!
Also this Term, Alhumdulillah with the grace of Allah (S.W.T), our Year 12 students have reached a memorable milestone, successfully completing their Primary and Secondary education journey. This milestone is not an ending, but a new beginning, Insha’Allah. Our Year 12’s are about to embark on their next chapter filled with new opportunities, responsibilities, and continued acquisition of knowledge to please Allah (S.W.T), Insha’Allah.
Throughout their time at Al-Ameen College, the Year 12’s have shown resilience, dedication, and commitment to achieve their best. Life will not be without its challenges however, it is in those moments that they will prove their ability to rise above, remain steadfast, and hold firmly to their values, Insha’Allah. Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Qur’an:
“So verily, with hardship comes ease.” (Surah Ash-Sharh 94:6)
This verse is a timeless reminder that no struggle in life is without purpose, and every difficulty is accompanied by ease. The resilience that our Year 12’s have built during their schooling years, will Insha’Allah carry them through their life’s trials and tribulations.
Strength is not only demonstrated by physical ability, but more importantly, by faith, character, and perseverance. Insha’Allah, our Year 12’s will carry these qualities with them as they pursue their aspirations and contribute to their families, communities, and the ummah at large.
Year 12’s, please always strive for excellence in both deen and dunya. Let your efforts to seek knowledge be a means to achieve closeness and connection to Allah (S.W.T), and to benefit others.
We are immensely proud of what you have achieved and very excited for all that lies ahead for you, Insha’Allah. May Allah (S.W.T) bless your future, protect you from harm, and make you leaders of kindness and righteousness, Ameen.
Congratulations, Class of 2025! You will always remain a part of the Al-Ameen family, Insha’Allah.
With best wishes and heartfelt duas,
Dr Popie Rhaman

Wellbeing in Action – Term 3
At Al-Ameen College, the wellbeing of our students continues to be at the heart of everything we do. This term, the Wellbeing and Pastoral Care Department has led a wide range of initiatives designed to inspire compassion, strengthen resilience, and bring our community together in meaningful ways. Each event reflected our shared belief that nurturing the mind, heart, and spirit is essential to helping our students grow into confident, connected, and caring individuals.
One of the most inspiring moments of Term 3 was the Love Aid Singapore Awareness event, where we welcomed Mr Gilbert Goh, a humanitarian aid coordinator and social activist from Singapore. Through a moving presentation, video, and Q&A, our students learned about his impactful work in Gaza, including soup kitchens in refugee camps, food distributions, and hospital solar projects. The session reminded us all of the power of service and global citizenship, encouraging students to see how one person’s dedication can make a difference in the lives of many.
The theme of compassion was carried forward through our Kindness Week Forum. Introduced with a student-produced video at assembly, The Kindness Project invited everyone to reflect on how small, thoughtful actions can transform our school environment. Staff and students shared personal stories of kindness, and the initiative sparked a culture of empathy and gratitude reminding us that kindness is not only a value, but a daily practice.
Supporting emotional resilience remained a major focus this term. Across August and September, the Resilient Teens Workshops for Year 7, 9, and 10 students provided vital tools to manage stress, build confidence, and cultivate strong relationships all through an Islamic lens. Delivered by Sr Khadija Al-Kaddour, the sessions combined interactive activities with faith-based guidance, empowering students to embrace challenges with tawakkul (trust in Allah) and a growth mindset inspired by prophetic character. Similarly, our Year 6 Growing Minds Workshops guided students through the transition to high school, helping them build resilience, identity, and self-discipline while anchoring these values in Islamic teachings.
The Wellbeing team also prioritised clarity and consistency in expectations through the Student Policy Information Sessions. Students in Years 7–10 and Year 11 engaged with school leaders to revisit key policies on behaviour, punctuality, uniforms, and mobile phone use. These sessions reaffirmed our shared standards, with teachers and students working together to uphold a respectful and orderly school culture.
This term also celebrated community through a number of memorable events. Family Night in August was a highlight, drawing families together to enjoy food trucks, bouncy castles, and warm fellowship. In September, the Father’s Day Bazaar showcased student leadership and creativity, with student committees running successful stalls that raised funds for future wellbeing initiatives. Both events not only strengthened school spirit but also reflected the generosity and support of our wider community.
In the spirit of national wellbeing awareness, the school proudly participated in R U OK? Day on 11th September. With an uplifting assembly led by the Wellbeing Department, speeches from student leaders and the school counsellor, as well as a pledge wall, photo booth, and sausage sizzle, the day empowered students to open up conversations about mental health in a safe and supportive space. The atmosphere of connection and care was a true reflection of our school values in action.
Four nominated students proudly joined peers from schools across Perth’s southeast at the 2nd Annual Swan Young Changemakers Conference, hosted by Zaneta Mascarenhas MP. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions on topics such as mental health, social media, AI, housing, and future jobs, sharing insights that reflected their deep awareness of today’s challenges. They also connected with young mentors from diverse fields from dance and media to coding who inspired them with stories of resilience and unexpected career journeys. The event reminded all participants that young voices have the power to shape the future with clarity, creativity, and conviction.
Environmental responsibility also came into focus with Bash the Trash Day, where the entire school united to clean and beautify the campus. Energy, teamwork, and school pride were on full display, and the friendly competition added excitement as classes worked together to shine. The event not only left our grounds spotless but also highlighted the importance of caring for our shared environment.
Finally, Term 3 ended on a joyful note with the Al-Ameen Fun Day, which combined food trucks, games, and sports tournaments for both Primary and High School students. From dodgeball and volleyball in the gym to soccer on the oval, the day brought laughter, teamwork, and a festive spirit to cap off the term. Parents joined the celebrations at pick-up, adding to the sense of community connection.
As Term 3 draws to a close, we are filled with gratitude for our students, staff, and families whose support has made these initiatives possible. Every workshop, assembly, and event was strengthened by the collective energy of our community. We look forward to building on this momentum in Term 4, with new opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together.
