Principals Message
Acting Principal - Teaching and Learning

It is my great pleasure to introduce the first newsletter of 2025.
To all our new families, I extend a warm welcome to the Al-Ameen community and hope your child's transition to our school has been smooth. Our Kindy and Year 7 students have now settled in well and are embracing the opportunities available to them. We look forward to supporting them on their learning journey and fostering their growth both academically and personally.
In our first newsletter of the year, it is a great opportunity to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of our Class of 2024. Our highest ATAR score for 2024 is an impressive 97.05 (raw score), and our median ATAR has risen to 82.25. Congratulations to all our 2024 Year 12 graduates—your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have resulted in exceptional academic success, and we couldn’t be prouder. We wish you all the very best for the journey ahead. While we celebrate these achievements, I also want to remind our current Year 12 cohort to maintain strong study habits and organisational skills. Your commitment and effort will not only shape your success but also continue to uphold the proud academic tradition of Al-Ameen College. Keep striving for excellence!
A key highlight for our Year 3, 5, 7, and 9 students in Term 1 is their participation in NAPLAN testing. As the only national assessment taken by all Australian students, NAPLAN provides valuable data on literacy and numeracy performance across the country. It ensures consistent and well-recognised measures of student achievement, helping us gain insights that will enable us to better support our students' learning and development. We look forward to receiving the results in and using them to enhance our educational programs.
Harmony Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Friday, 21 March, as our school community came together to embrace and appreciate our rich cultural diversity. It was truly heart-warming to see students proudly wearing traditional attire, representing their heritage with pride. The extended assembly, organised by the HASS Department, was a memorable and meaningful experience. It was a proud moment that reinforced the values of inclusivity, respect, and unity within our school.
We are proud to announce that we have been selected to participate in the IGNIS Program through Edith Cowan University (ECU) in 2025. This prestigious opportunity will allow 4-6 students from Years 9-11 to engage in cutting-edge aerospace and engineering research, working alongside leading experts in the field.
In the last week, we held Parent-Teacher interviews on Friday, 11 April. Please remember that if you would like to chat with a teacher or contact the College for any reason, please feel free to pick up the phone, and we can help direct your enquiry.
I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and I look forward to returning with fresh energy and enthusiasm for a successful start to Term 2.

TERM 1 WELLBEING WORKSHOPS
This Term, our Wellbeing Department delivered a rich programme of workshops and activities designed to support students in their personal, academic, and social development.
R U Legal? – Rights & Legal Responsibility - Presented by Legal Aid WA
This interactive workshop helped students understand their legal rights and responsibilities through real‑life scenarios. Highlights included:
- Cyberbullying & Identity Theft: Knowing the personal and legal consequences of online behaviour
- School Fights & Filming: How recording or participating in fights can land you in trouble
- Key Youth Laws: From age of criminal responsibility to common offences
- Interacting with Police: Understanding your rights when dealing with law enforcement
By the end of the session, our junior students felt more confident about making responsible choices and avoiding serious legal pitfalls.
Visual Addiction Workshop – Parents’ Edition - Presented by: Sheikh Wael
In a packed Multi‑Purpose Hall, parents joined Sheikh Wael to explore the impact of excessive screen time on children’s wellbeing. The workshop covered:
- The psychological and social effects of digital addiction
- Practical strategies to set healthy screen‑time boundaries
- Tips for fostering more meaningful offline activities
- An open Q&A addressing real concerns from our school families
Participants left equipped with tools to guide their children toward balanced, healthy digital habits.
Goal Planning - Presented by: Sr Khadija Al‑Kaddour
Our senior girls learned to craft purposeful, “barakah‑filled” goals with a focus on:
- Time & Energy Management: Prioritising tasks for maximum efficiency
- Clarity of Intentions: Ensuring goals align with personal values
- Practical Achievement Strategies: Staying focused, motivated, and accountable
This session aimed to set our young women on a path toward meaningful academic and personal success.
Transitioning from School to Society - Presented by: Br Jihad
As our senior boys approach graduation, this workshop provided guidance on:
- Adulting 101: Embracing new responsibilities and freedoms
- Building Purposeful Lives: Identifying how to contribute positively to community and career
- Real‑World Resilience: Decision‑making skills and strategies for overcoming challenges
Our aim was to empower these young men to step confidently into the next phase of their lives.
TERM 1 WELLBEING WORKSHOPS & EVENTS RECAP
Iftar Night Celebration – A Memorable Evening of Fun and Community
On a beautiful evening filled with joy, laughter, and togetherness, our school community came together to celebrate Iftar Night, an event that truly captured the spirit of unity and wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Department ensured the night was full of excitement for students of all ages. Primary students enjoyed the thrill of a bouncy castle, while high school students tested their agility and teamwork on an obstacle course.
To cater to the crowd, the event featured 10 fantastic food trucks offering a wide range of delicious options.
Harmony Day Celebration – Embracing Our Diversity
Our school community came together to celebrate Harmony Day—a special occasion that highlights the beauty of our cultural diversity and promotes inclusivity, respect, and unity.
In the spirit of the day, students were invited to wear their Islamically appropriate traditional attire, proudly representing their unique cultural backgrounds. The colourful display of clothing created a vibrant and festive atmosphere across the campus, showcasing the rich tapestry of cultures within our school.
As always, the celebration was held in line with the school’s uniform policy. Students observed the guidelines by wearing their scarves, avoiding makeup, and ensuring all other dress code requirements were followed, allowing us to honour our diversity while maintaining our shared values.
Bash the Trash Day – A Whole School Effort!
The whole school united for Bash the Trash Day during Period 6—a spirited event focused on cleaning and beautifying the entire campus. Equipped with cleaning tools and a positive attitude, students and teachers worked together to refresh classrooms and shared spaces.
Each class began by collecting supplies, then rolled up their sleeves to scrub, sweep, and tidy both inside and outside their rooms. HPE teachers took the lead in cleaning the gym and school grounds. The energy was high, and teamwork turned the task into a fun, fast-paced activity.
To finish the event, Year 11 and 12 student councillors inspected classrooms, awarding prizes to ten outstanding classes— five from Primary and five from High School—for their exceptional cleanliness and team effort. It was a fantastic display of school pride and community spirit!
Hijabs Got Talent – 10 April Highlights
The Multi‑Purpose Hall came alive as Upper Primary students, paired up for our inaugural Hijabs Got Talent competition. Over three buzzing hours, each duo—one acting as stylist, the other as mannequin—had just 15 minutes to craft a hijab look using their own materials. From elegant drapes and layered textures to bold colour combinations, the hall showcased an inspiring range of creativity.
Our judges evaluated each style on originality and durability, testing finishes with simple movement and walk‑about. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams whose designs stood out for both visual impact and secure fit. Special commendations went to entries featuring innovative fabric twists and sustainable embellishments.
Upper Primary Soccer Competition – A Huge Success!
The school held its Upper Primary Soccer competition bringing together students, staff, and parents for a fun-filled morning of sport and school spirit.
Boys from Years 4 to 6 competed in a lively round-robin tournament, showing great teamwork and enthusiasm. The highlight of the day was the Year 6 winners facing off against the Staff and Parents Team in a friendly, crowd-pleasing finale.
A huge thank‑you to every participant, volunteer, and judge who made these events such a memorable success.
As Term 1 ends, we sincerely thank all Al-Ameen parents and guardians for your continued support in following the school’s morning drop-off procedures. Your cooperation has led to improved punctuality, smoother traffic flow, and a safer start to each day. From arriving on time to using the correct drop-off points and driving safely, your efforts have made a real difference. We also appreciate your patience during busy mornings and your positive response to staff guidance at drop-off locations.
Together, we've built a more efficient and secure environment for our students — and we look forward to continuing this success in Term 2, with more exciting wellbeing initiatives to come!

Bismillah
We successfully commenced the 2025 academic year, with the favour of Allah upon us, on our shared journey at Al Ameen College. This year, this far has been filled with growth, challenges, and countless achievements, all of which have contributed to our vibrant school community and it is only Term 1, Alhamdulillah!
In the spirit of our Islamic values, we have worked together to foster an environment of compassion, respect, and excellence. Our students have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated the importance of character and integrity, embodying the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
As we celebrate our achievements, let us also remember the importance of gratitude. Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Qur'an, "And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: 'If you give thanks, I will surely increase your favour upon you'" (Qur'an 14:7). Let us be thankful for the knowledge we have gained, the friendships we have formed, and the support we have received from our dedicated teachers and staff - in particular our Islamic Studies & Quran staff.
Our students led our Taraweeh prayers, our Eid Prayer was overwhelmed with Families, our Annual Iftar was served by our staff and student volunteers and our students continued to enjoy their leadership roles with our Islamic Studies Department coordinating.
As we enjoy the holiday season, I encourage everyone to take time for reflection and rejuvenation. May this break be filled with joy, peace, and spiritual growth.
Thank you for being an essential part of the Al Ameen family. I wish you all a restful holiday and to remain prosperous in the 2025 academic year ahead.
With Prayers of Peace.

Assalamu Alaykum Warahmutallahi wa Barakatu
Beginning 2025
Alhamdulillah! We have arrived at the end of term 1 with also completing the last few days of the beautiful, blessed month of Ramadan which will sadly farewell soon. Indeed, it was a busy term looking at the calendar filled with interesting events. We started the term with KKY6 meet the Teacher and stationery Drop off. This eased traffic congestion tremendously on the first day of school and students knew beforehand where their class for 2025 was located. Thank you to the Teachers and Education assistants for preparing their classrooms for 2025 with a smooth start! The positive outcome of Orientation sessions held late last year highlighted that the Parents could develop a trusting partnership between the school and the home. Early childhood Staff were introduced, and expectations were discussed before the term 1 started. Orientation sessions like these benefit Parents and reduce stress. Kindergarten started a day later which was also welcomed by many Parents and our young students enthusiastically started their learning journey into 2025.
Parent Teacher Conference
The Parent -Teacher Conference held early in the term created an excellent opportunity for the Teacher and Parent to build a solid relationship. This also built a bridge to share academic progress and growth based on classroom observations early in the term. On the other hand, teachers learn from parents about their child’s behaviours, needs and strengths. Thus, a personal connection is made between Teacher and Parent.
NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) Years 3 and 5
Another NAPLAN Assessment was successfully conducted with a 100% student participation. Once we receive the results, the data will be analysed and used by teachers to understand strengths and weaknesses. The NAPLAN data gathered will be to plan effective Literacy and Numeracy teaching and learning programs and to track students’ growth over time. I also thank teachers and students for using the Digital EXCEL zone practice platform as a preparation for NAPLAN support.
Merit Award Assemblies
Thank you to the Parents who have attended the Aussie and Mu’min of the month
assemblies including Merit certificates. These awards recognise the students' academic
achievements and behavioural conduct in class. We congratulate the students who have
received these awards in their specific categories.
Our Year 6 Achievements
Our Year 6 Prefects have been chosen because of their commitment and being a good role
model to their peers in their respective classes.
A big thank you to our Year 6 Prefects for doing an excellent job by being on Prayer duty, at
the staircase and Friday Prayer and helping at Wudhu.
We celebrated Harmony Day last week and the students looked dazzling and colourful in
their traditional and cultural dress.
Staff News:
We also congratulate Mrs Teodora Jankovic on her first-born child, a baby boy. We are sure
she is experiencing motherhood to be a significantly shift in life transition to the demands
and caring for the newborn as well as a learning curve in life.
We have also bid farewell to one of our long serving staff, Mrs Adriana Debowski, who has
embarked on her retirement journey of a well-deserved transition in the next phase of her
life.
Eid greetings to all Primary Parents and staff and enjoy a joyous Eid celebration with family
and friends.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Primary Staff and Heads of year levels for your hard work
and effort in completing a productive term 1!

Being a responsible online citizen
In this modern day where security is always an issue, I thought it a good idea to refresh all our memories on responsible online behaviour and the steps to take when you need to report any online behaviour or actions.
The posters provided by the E-safety commissioner provides the most concise and consistent advice.
